Fall Color Report: Asheville and NC Mountains

Fall Color at Craggy Gardens on the Blue Ridge Parkway

NC Mountain Fall Color Update: Today, we enjoyed an amazing sunrise from atop Craggy Pinnacle at Craggy Gardens on the Blue Ridge Parkway, north of Asheville. While the peak color is past on top, the 360-degree panoramic views will have great color for the next week or more! Best color this weekend will continue to be in the higher elevations, especially above 3,500 feet elevation. The sun returns today after many cloudy days, and the weather forecast for the weekend is great. Take a drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway north or south from Asheville. The valleys and lower elevations around Asheville are still very green. But either direction takes you to higher elevations quickly. See our full fall foliage color report & guide for more details and a calendar of events and festivals to enjoy. Also, see our latest fall color photographs.

It’s prime weather for hiking and waterfalls! See our Top 40 Hikes near Asheville for plenty of ideas for all fitness levels. Also, see our Top 25 Waterfalls for more places to explore. From the Great Smoky Mountains to the Blue Ridge Mountains, fall color will only last for a few more weeks!
